Tomorrow is the International Day of Climate Action,  an international movement launched by environmentalist and activist Bill McKibben of 350.org.

The 350 campaign encourages people around the world to organize an “action” — a music and arts festival, kite flying event, gourmet dining experience, whatever — to draw attention to climate change. People are also welcome to post photos, videos, tweets, and donations in support of the cause. So far, more than 4,600 actions have been organized in 177 countries.

Cyclists, in particular, have been singled out as a dedicated group involved in the campaign (in addition to artists, athletes, businesses, etc.) Known as 350riders, these committed individuals are encouraged to “place a green 350 license plate on the front of their bikes, then ride them everywhere to spread the number into the streets and onto the trails.” Mass rides and other cycling events abound.

For example, in San Francisco, a group of 350 team members have been steadily cycling down a 350-mile ride along the Northern California coast from Arcata to the Golden Gate. They plan to arrive in San Fran at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, at which point there will be a “mass convergence” at Justin Herman Plaza along the Embarcadero roadway (what a coincidence! TheCityFix is produced by its own group of “EMBARQaderos!”)
